What's in a name?

Ever wonder what the car brand names sound like in countries where English is not the native language? Auto manufacturers spend lots of time and money making sure their translated names project the brand image that they've invested so much to build (Recall GM's fiasco in trying to market the Nova in Central and South America. "No va" in Spanish means, "It Doesn't Go").
So here's how some of the major name plates translate into Chinese:
- BMW = "Bao Ma" -- Precious Steed
- Benz = "Ben Chi" -- Gallop
- Buick = "Bie Ke" -- Special Guest
- Hummer = "Han Ma" -- Mighty Horse
- Hyundai = "Xian Dai" -- Modern
